- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup Madhava Organic Coconut Sugar Madhava Natural Sweeteners Organic Coconut Sugar
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

- Scald milk in a large glass mixing bowl in the microwave by heating to just less than a simmer (cook until milk begins to steam but do not bring to a boil.) Cool to lukewarm (100 to 110 degrees.)
- When milk is lukewarm, stir in Madhava Organic Coconut Sugar and yeast. Let stand 5 minutes.
- Combine whole wheat flour and salt and stir into yeast mixture. Let stand 10 minutes or until bubbles start to form on top.
- Beat in egg and cooled melted butter.
- Mix in all-purpose flour, kneading in the last 1/2 to 1 cup of flour. Knead dough until smooth. Form dough into a ball and place back in mixing bowl. Cover with a moist cloth and allow to stand 1 hour or until doubled in bulk. Punch down dough and allow to rise another 30 minutes. Proceed as directed to make Pecan Sticky Buns or Cinnamon Rolls.
