Baked Agave Cinnamon Banana Chips

Ingredients:
  • 10 bananas
  • 1/4 cup Madhava Natural Sweeteners Amber Raw Organic Agave
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
Overview

Bananas a great snack or pre-workout option because they’re loaded with essential vitamins and minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin C and vitamin B6! They’re also incredibly difficult to keep in your bag for an afternoon snack on-the-go – unless of course you enjoy partially mashed bananas at the bottom of your bag. That’s where these Baked Agave Cinnamon Banana Chips come in handy!

While heating the bananas does alter the vitamin C and B6 content – two nutrients that are particularly sensitive to heat – it also removes more than 90% of the water content, making banana chips much denser than the fresh fruit, and about four times higher in fiber and potassium! Plus, they’re crunchy and a little sweet, so you know your taste buds are on board.

For this recipe, we used our Amber Raw Organic Agave for a sweet flavor that’s a bit richer than our Golden Light Organic Agave. We love these Baked Agave Cinnamon Banana Chips on their own, or in a snack mix with nuts, raisins and other dried fruit!

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 200°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Evenly slice bananas into coins, and arrange on lined baking sheet in a single layer.
  3. Brush banana coins with organic agave and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  4. Bake for 2 hours, then carefully flip the banana coins and continue cooking for another 1.5 hours, or until banana coins are dark gold or brown. They won’t be crispy yet, this happens as they cool.
  5. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container to store.
